Four people make the weekday Lunch Ministry happen. Right now, eight to ten people make the Sunday Shower Ministry Team happen. The kitchen is constantly being re-stocked with donations of water, bread, fruit, cheese, and lunchmeat, along with purchases of bulk foods and supplies from Restaurant Depot, Costco and area grocery stores. The large basement power room is also filled with washers and dryers, large cabinets with donated clothes, baskets of washed clothes with people’s names on them, and other supplies. Some team members have been serving every week or nearly every week for almost a year now. New volunteers who have seen what we are doing have arrived. The Shower Ministry Team and Lunch Ministry Team continue to serve homeless and poverty-stricken people in our community. Comments don’t need to be technical, but more people urging them to electrify their fleet of buses within this decade can only help! We will be looking for ways to support local initiatives to make buildings more energy efficient, and incorporate more LED lighting and electric buses in the city’s infrastructure planning. Consciously working to make our building green, creating messages of love for the Earth in worship, developing adult and children’s Earth Care educational activities, and reaching out to the community are all part of this mission. We are one of only three churches in the Presbyterian Church in this region, to do this. We are about to become an Earth Care Congregation as a result of working together to meet the guidelines of the Presbyterian Church, USA. International Student Outreach, where we become Homes Away from Home from those separated from their families, hosting monthly dinners and showing them the love of Christ.īusiness Leader Outreach, where we connect with, show up for, and serve with the business leaders in our city. While anyone can apply to start an outreach group through New Song, we have three homegrown Outreach Initiatives operating through Outreach Groups: We serve knowing we are called to be a part of bringing God’s heart to our city in action, word, and deed. Outreach Groups show up and serve in small groups, typically partnering with local organizations in our community or serving a specific demographic (i.e. Come help us follow Christ’s example to be a city on a hill and invest in our community with His love! We represent our heartbeats of Family, Education, and Restoration by showing up and serving with organizations and projects committed to radically loving our city.Įach Serve Saturday, adults, Students, and New Song Kids (ages BoomTown and up) split into three teams to show up and serve our community. Serve Saturday is New Song’s monthly church-wide outreach into our community. Safe Families is a nationwide effort to support children and parents in crisis - a movement all about being the hands and feet to keep families together and children from going into foster care when it can be prevented. New Song is home to two outreach chapters!Įmbrace Grace exists to connect single women experiencing an unexpected pregnancy to a judgment-free community who want to cheer them on and help them be brave.
